Vivente in Hammond Park has achieved the vision of integrating the natural environment and rehabilitated vegetation, into a new urban form which encourages interaction and inclusion amongst residents, and the wider local community. Vivente has been in planning since 2010, with the first residents moving in during 2016.
Located approximately 28 kilometres south of Perth in Hammond Park, Vivente is a 35-hectare residential development that is anticipated to yield 475 lots. Central to the design objectives is a ‘green link’, a linear belt of connected public open space that traverses the estate from east to west providing high-quality connectivity to the wider Cockburn locality.
Vivente is well located with the Aubin Grove Train Station and Harvest Lakes town centre within two kilometres to the north of the estate, both easily accessible via the pedestrian and regional bike path network.
Vivente is strongly influenced by retained and rehabilitated vegetation, the public open space network, and connectivity to nearby community, commercial, retail, schools and transport infrastructure.
A linear ‘green link’ will ultimately provide a connection to Frankland Reserve Recreation and Community facility to the west which is currently under design by the City of Cockburn (March 2019). Access to this facility will be via boardwalks with a fitness park incorporating “activity stairs” and linked by a future running loop to encourage active pedestrian movement.
The activity stairs utilise the estate’s topography to optimise fitness opportunities at any time of the day. Multi-functional equipment can be used for both fitness and play, plus various respite areas have been provided at key vantage points.
The street network is legible with each street having a dedicated footpath, ensuring easy access to existing and future destinations within Vivente and the wider Cockburn locality such as primary and high schools. Whadjuk Drive provides designated bicycle lanes to assist with cyclist safety and link into the broader Perth Bicycle Metropolitan region network.
